THE 2014 MUNICH OPERA FESTIVAL

The Bayerische Staatsoper is opening its doors for the 2014 Munich Opera Festival. Alongside the premieres of Gioachino Rossini's Guillaume Tell and Claudio Monteverdi'sL’Orfeo, the programme once again includes a wide range of repertoire performances and vocal recitals.

An innovation this year is the Festival in the Reithalle, an external venue in which the Bayerische Staatsoper will be presenting experimental musical theatre Projects.

The programme also includes Anna Netrebko's role début as Lady Macbeth along-sideLa Traviata with Diana Damrau and Joseph CallejaAnja Harteros will be interpreting works by Franz Schubert at her Solo Recital, additionally she will give her Munich role début as Tosca and will be presenting her celebrated interpretation of Leonora in La forza del destino. This production also features Jonas Kaufmann, who will further perform a solo recital on the stage of Bayerische Staatsoper. Edita Gruberova is returning to the Bayerische Staatsoper in her classic role of Donna Lucrezia Borgia in Donizetti's opera seria, with Pavol Breslik as Gennaro.
